SAT Prep Course – Frequently Asked Questions

How our live Zoom-based SAT prep works for students and families.

Class Logistics

Details about how the course is structured, scheduled, and delivered.

All sessions are held live on Zoom. Instructors teach with screen mirroring, so students see annotated passages, worked examples, and SAT questions on their screens in real time.
Classes meet once per week according to the schedule listed on the registration page. We keep cohorts intentionally small—typically 10–20 students—to support strong engagement and meaningful instructor feedback.
Families do not need to purchase any textbooks. We provide digital practice sets, strategy handouts, homework assignments, and mini practice tests, along with links to official SAT resources.
A laptop or iPad with keyboard is strongly recommended so students can see the instructor’s screen clearly and work through problems efficiently. Phones are not ideal for SAT prep.

Student Experience

What it feels like to learn in our Zoom-based classroom.

No. To reduce distractions and help students focus on the content, student cameras remain off. Students participate through chat, polls, and written responses instead.
Absolutely. Our classes are highly interactive. Students complete timed drills, respond to comprehension checks, work through problems alongside the instructor, and contribute in the chat throughout each lesson.
Yes. Students receive 30–60 minutes of homework per week, focused on the skills and strategies introduced in class. Consistent homework completion is one of the biggest drivers of score improvement.
Yes. The course is designed for both first-time test takers and students retaking the SAT. We cover structure, timing, strategy, and targeted skill work so students can succeed regardless of prior experience.

Parent Information

What families can expect in terms of communication, results, and support.

Results vary, but students who attend consistently and complete all homework often see gains in the range of +120 to +180 points. The combination of structured strategy instruction and steady practice drives the best outcomes.
Yes. We provide digital SAT simulations and access to official College Board practice exams. We strongly recommend that students complete at least two full-length practice tests before their official test date.
Classes are taught by East Coast Scholars educators with deep experience in SAT strategy, high-level reading and math instruction, and guiding students through competitive college admissions.
Yes. Parents receive periodic updates on attendance, homework completion, and practice test performance when applicable, along with suggested next steps.

Policies

Key details on absences, refunds, and scheduling conflicts.

If a student misses class, they receive access to the full class recording along with all materials and homework for that week, so they can stay on track.
When conflicts arise, students can watch the recording, complete the homework, and review key concepts during optional support times when offered.
Families may request a refund up to 10 days before the first class. Within 10 days of the start date, tuition becomes non-refundable, as seats are reserved and materials are prepared in advance for enrolled students.
