TACHS Exam Prep for Long Island Students

East Coast Scholars prepares Long Island 8th graders for the TACHS exam and helps them earn admission to their first-choice Catholic high schools.

Grade 8 Virtual Group & 1-1 Fall 2026

Built by People Who've Been Through It

Our TACHS curriculum is developed and delivered by Chaminade alumni, so Long Island 8th graders are learning from instructors who went through this exact admissions process themselves and know what these schools are looking for.

Getting Long Island students into the Catholic high school they want.

The TACHS exam plays a major role in Catholic high school admission across the New York and Brooklyn dioceses. We build every part of our program around what actually shows up on test day.

Instructors who've sat the same exam

Every instructor in this program applied to and got into these exact schools themselves, so lessons are shaped by firsthand admissions experience, not just test-prep theory.

10+ years of TACHS results

We've been running this program for over a decade, with a consistent track record of Long Island students earning admission to their choice schools.

Two ways to prepare

Join a small, structured weekly class, or work one-on-one with a TACHS-specific tutor on a schedule built entirely around your student.

Long Island-focused, statewide reach

We're based in Farmingdale and built this program around Long Island families and schools — but our virtual format means we can work with students anywhere in New York.

Our students have gained admission to Long Island's most sought-after Catholic high schools, including:

Chaminade High School
Kellenberg Memorial High School
Sacred Heart Academy
St. Anthony's High School
St. Mary's High School
St. Dominic High School
St. John the Baptist Diocesan High School
Holy Trinity Diocesan High School
St. Agnes Cathedral High School
Our Lady of Mercy Academy

This list reflects the schools our students most frequently target. If your student has a different school in mind, we'll build the program around that goal.

TACHS Prep FAQ

What is the TACHS?
The TACHS (Test for Admission into Catholic High Schools) is the entrance exam used by Catholic high schools across the New York and Brooklyn dioceses to evaluate incoming 8th grade applicants.
Which package is right for my student?
The Virtual Group Class Package is a strong fit for students who work well in a structured, small-group setting. The Virtual 1-1 Package is built for students who need a fully personalized pace or a schedule outside the weekly group sessions entirely.
Do we have to pick Saturday or Sunday for the whole program?
No. Students can switch between the two from week to week, whatever fits that week's schedule.
Do you only work with Long Island students?
We're a Long Island-based team and this program is built with Long Island families and schools in mind, but because it runs virtually, we're able to work with students anywhere in New York.
